Why copper for heat transfer solutions?

Aluminium is light, steel is hard, stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, plastic is inexpensive – so why use valuable copper when there are so many alternatives?

Here are some of the many answers to this question:

Copper is the best heat conductor

One of the basic requirements for thermal engineering applications is that the material provides maximum thermal conductivity. Copper is vastly superior to all the above materials. Heat exchangers would, in fact, have to be made of pure silver in order to exhibit higher thermal conductivity.
